A Brief History of the Bus
- The idea first came to us in May 2005.
- Then in September 2005 after more thought and prayer we began to realise the idea was from God.
- In October we made an application to the Souter Foundation to fund it.
- In December they promised us a bus.
- In February after doing some sums we realised that £16,500 was needed to undertake the project to the specification at that time. We had a special offering one Sunday at The Lighthouse Church (Mostly 10 families at the time), including gift aid, it came to well over £16, 500.
- So in March 2006 we had the money to kit it out, but no bus yet.
- However, in April 2006 our bus was finally delivered.
- During the course of the refurbishment works it was decided that we needed to increase the budget by another £9,000. The reason for this was simple. It's God's bus and God's money. If we are trying to create something that will see hundreds of people come to know God and bring glory to Him, then it needs to be done well, really well.
- The majority of the work was undertaken by volunteers from the The Lighthouse Church and beyond, though we did hire professionals for the more specialist things.
- It has now been completely gutted and refurbished and in active use since december 2007.
